Lines showing in XP

Hello

I'm editing a document in Word XP - it's a letterhead.
The doc is built in a tables.

My table is two cols wide - the second col is split into 4
rows and contains images. The first column is where the
text will go. I've checked hide gridlines.

When I start typing on the page, two black lines appear
along the length of my 2nd cell. I've checked to ensure
that there are no borders on any of the cells. Each cell
isn't outlined only a black line along the left and right
of the entire column (top and bottom left blank).

The lines don't print or pdf - it's only in visible in
print layout view.

Is this something I have to live with or is there a way to
make those lines disappear? What is their function? To
denote where my column is???

Thanks for your help!

No - the line on columns isn't checked.
The columns are created because of the table.
And the line is only on the right and left side of the
right hand of the table.

It sounds as if you may have Track Changes enabled. Look at the status bar
and see if you see TRK in black. If so, double-click it to turn Track
Changes off. Then display the Reviewing toolbar (if it isn't already
displayed), click the down arrow beside Accept Change, and click on Accept
All Changes in Document.

Go to the "Format" Menu, Click "Colunmns", under the Columns dialogue, check
to see if lines in between is checked and click ok.

I just typed to my heart's content in your document and never saw a problem.
Since you have graphics to the right in various cells, I am getting the
impression that this is merely a matter of updating your video driver for
your computer. Try doing this to see if it fixes it self:

1. Type a bunch of text in the left-hand column cell
2. Click the Print Preview button to view the document
3. Click the "Close" button to return to Print Layout view

Did the lines go away? This could be intermittent or possibly permanent.
Try updating your video driver and see if that fixes the problem. Holler
back if not.

Sorry - just checked back in. I typed a page of info, hit
print preview, hit close and most of the lines disappeared
except for the ones right around the picture. I will try
updating my video driver and see if that works.

Thanks

I updated my video driver and still see the lines. But I
only see it when I'm using Office XP... not in 2000 or
2003. I guess it's something I have to live with. Thanks.

By the way, was the graphic insert as "Floating" or "In-line". Hey, just
grabbing at straws, but you never know!
