Changed-line bars printing on wrong side

I am working on a document in MS Word 2003, which uses two columns. I need to
print the document with the markup for changed lines showing. When I print
the document all the lines show up on the left side of the document.
Therefore, markups for lines in the right column show up beside a line in the
left column that has not been changed. Is there a way to fix this?

Also, is there a option to make the markup for changed lines thicker?

I have already done that. The setting is: "Changed lines: Left border".

When I view the document in print preview the bars appear on the correct
side in each column, but when I print the document they all go on one side,
the left one.

Is there a way to fix this?
