This was all formatted and the next time I loaded the document it came
up this way:

If like most people you go to a casino to get away, have a few
hours of fun, and maybe win
Something now and then, it doesn’t really matter how you
bet: minimum, maximum, or a
Combination of both. The true secret of successful slot playing is
to make your bankroll and
Playing time last as long as possible, with winning just a
bonus.

How do you reformat the document back to its original spacing???

A possible culprit, at least in some versions of Word, could be the "Recover
Text from Any File" file type in the Open dialog box. Open the dialog box
and make sure that the file type is set to "All Word Documents" and then try
to open your file again. Does that make a difference?
