Line Numbers no longer appear

Hi. I'm using Word 2003. I added line numbers to an rtf file by going to
"File", "Page Setup" and select "Line Number". I used to be able to see the
line numbers. I sent the file to someone else to add line numbers and she
can see line numbers in the file. She sent her copy to me and I still can't
see the line numbers. Any idea why I can't see the line numbers anymore?
 
Line numbers display only in Print Preview and Page Layout view. My guess is
that you're displaying the document in Normal or Web view.
 
Thank you for your response. I was using "Print Layout" and it still
wouldn't work. Earlier, I restarted my computer. After receiving your
response, I decided to totally turn the computer off and turn it back on.
The line numbers are showing up now. Apparently, something was zapped and
refreshed when I did a "cold" start.
