limiting number of internet files

Does anybody know if there is a hard limit to the number
of files you can have in the temporary internet files
directory? I have mine set to 2G, but I see that it is
remaining at 3153 files altogether (number of files, not
size) and it has not changed even though I am loading
different files. Please help if anybody can
 
why would you want that many temp files, just slows down
your pc. but windows will manage it so i guess thats what
its doing.
