In a limited user account, how do I change the My
Documents folder property from "read only"? I can uncheck
the box but it has no effect.

That setting is by default on folders...
if documents dont have read only in properties or in
the title bar of an open document, you have no
problem.... just ignore the folder properties...
that cannot be changed.

Default Permissions for Shared Folders Is Read-Only Access for Everyone
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328065&Product=winxp
(328065) - By default in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), if you click
the Sharing tab of the Properties dialog box for the folder, and then share
the folder for other users to access over the network, the folder has
permissions that give everyone read-only...
