Limited User Account and Folder Permissions Question

I just got a new computer and I have configured my system with my account
(Mike) configured as an administrator. Now I want to try using my Mike
account as a limited user to increase the security of my system. I setup
another account (McAdmin) that is an administrator account and changed my
Mike account to a limited account. With my limited Mike account I have found
that I cannot create files in the root of drive C and in the Program Files
directory, which is good. However, some but not all of the programs that I
installed when my Mike account was of admin type have Mike listed in the
group or user name section of the security tab on their folders on the
Program Files directory. Because of this I, as a limited user, can write to
files in these folders.



I figured out how to change the owner to Administrators from my McAdmin
account but I cannot delete Mike from the group or user name section of the
security tab. When I try I get his message:



You cannot remove "Mike." because this object is inheriting permissions from
its parent. To remove "Mike." you must prevent this object from inheriting
permissions. Turn off the option for inheriting permissions, and then try
removing "Mike." again.



Any ideas on how to delete the Mike from this list? Should I do this? Can I
have Mike change to McAdmin?

When you get that message go to the advanced page for security and then
uncheck inherit permissions from parent at which time you will be prompted
to either copy or clear current permissions. I usually select copy and then
remove the user/group I know loner want. --- Steve
