Access denied to MS Word from limited account

Hi, I'm Dan. On my home computer I have two accounts: one (which is mine) as
administrator and another limited account. During the set up I accepted that
all my files are privileged (or something like this) and since then MS Office
applications are not available from the limited account. When I clik on MS
Word a small window appears saying "Shortcut problem ... Access denied".
I tried to figure out how to de-privilege the files and I found nothing. I
added also the limited account user with full access permission in the
security tab of the Microsoft Office folder in Documents and Settings/All
Users/Start Menu/Programs/Microsoft Office and still not working.

Can anyone help me ?

Check that the user or users group also has read/list/execute permissions to
the application folder itself in the program files folder. There is also a
free utility from SysInternals called filemon that can help track down
access problems. If you use it be sure to close down everything else as it
tracks ALL file access on your computer. Logon as the regular user, then
start filemon using runas and your administrator credentials from the
command line such as " runas user:/username filemon" at which time you will
be prompted for your password. Enter it and filemon will start. You would
need to enter the full path to filemon [such as c:\tools\filemon if it was
in a folder named tools on drive c] if it is not in the path statement or
simply copy it to the \Windows folder. Then try to start Word and soon as it
fails stop filemon from logging [uncheck capture events in file menu] and
review the log for access denied result. There probably will be a couple
thousand entries in the log but you can scan the log fast or use options -
filter to highlight any text such as access denied. After you find where
access is denied change permissions for the regular user and try again until
you can access the application. -- Steve
