limited color and screen resolution

I recently flattened my hard drive, basically starting again, and I have found that I have only got one option for color setting (16 colors) and 2 for screen resolutions (800x600 and 640x480.)

Before I reconfigured my hard drive I had color setting up to 265 and my screen resolutions went up to 1024x.

I have had this problem before and I solved it through the Microsoft knowledge base but for the life of me I can’t remember how.

I have been experiencing this problem for 2 days and I’m now at my wits end.

Please… some one help me
 
When you "flattened" your harddrive you erased the driver for your video
card. Go to the manufacturers website and download the proper driver and
install it and you will have color again.
