limit/disable ATI hypermemory Vista

OK, I am on a Thinkpad T60 with an ATI X1300 graphics adapter, I can
not "Add a Graphics card" and have already have 3GB of memory but the
hypermemory is using too much memory (Vista).

I want to limit of disable/adjust Hypermemory (no need for comments of
add more memory or get a graphic card!). 1,343MB is allocated to
Hypermemory, I do not play games, I work on this machine and that much
play memory is useless to me. (maybe Vista is useless too).

Using ATI Catalyst Controil Center Version 2007.0314.2238.38622 and I
see no way of adjusting it and recovering a GB of memory for real
work.

By the way, I am running out of memory addresses because of this big
glob of nothing that even slows down startup!

Help! Or I am going back to XP Pro (forever).

Where are you reading that 1.3GB is allocated to the graphics card?

A system BIOS for a desktop does not normally contain Monitor settings so
maybe they are actually adapter settings. Did you review them to be sure
that they were not adapter settings? In my Bios in a different make/model of
MOBO they are labeled as Video settings so you might check to see if you
have any of those.

One of the choices in my Video Bios setting is what do I want to use as my
primary graphics card. It is the only place I can tell My BIOS to use a PCI
card instead of the onboard graphics chip.

good point, although it could be something to see if you want to use the
integrated graphic card or not but yes good idea to check

Update! Semi resolved.

On my ThinkPad T60 I installed a new disk and did a new clean install
of Vista (Ultimate). My intent was to swap disks back and forth
untill I built a new clean system with all my software (Office, MS SQL
2005, Studio, Cygwin, GVim, MySQL and Skype... but this time without
the ATI controls using only MS Vista Windows software (no HW
vendors). The initial install reset the Hypermemory to what the
documentation said it should be (25%) which is high but OK. To get
some work done I rebooted to my original Vista Configuration and I was
happily supprized to find that the Vista install altered my BIOS
(which was not available via the normal BIOS settings) to use 25% of
my memory for Hyper memory - down to 831MB from the 1343MB it had
been.
Booting is still slow but somewhat improved, once in a steady state
with Outlook and RDM to another system physical memory was only at 55%
which is a great improvement and responsiveness is also improved..

Still would like BIOS access to the hypermemory settings. Any
Thinkpad hardware/software Engineers out there?
