Licensing Service is screwed up

D

Dave

I don't know what is happening with the licensing service
on my network.

Once the license service is running it is automatically
adding thousands of purchased licenses per day without me
doing anything.

It also has added a server called Exchange 6.4417. The
network has Exchange 2000 Server, but not this 6.4417.

If the server holding the licensing service is restarted
then the licensing service takes hours/days to start up
completely.

Anyone know why this could be happening?

Thanks

The licensing service is not required to run windows server. It is often
incorrect and/or can cause problems. The majority of users here disable the
Licensing service and track all their licenses manually. I suggest you do
the same and save yourself some headaches. Note: this only applies to
Windows 200X Server Client Access Licenses, not SQL or Terminal Services
(which are tracked separately.)
