A good Windows program for searching EDICT is JWPce:

Sanseido kokugo/eiwa/waei/katakana/kanji dictionaries free online (not
available for download). The kokugo has far more definitions than the waei,
so it's worth consulting even for translation purposes. You need to be able
to type/read Japanese to use this one---no English interface or romaji
support, as far as I know:
