lexmark X85

I have a Lexmark X85 and it works for a short time and then seems to disappear from my installed printer folder. I currently have 4 users on my computer which operates with XP and has 120 GB and 512 MB. All users are computer admin. Any answers??

I did as you asked but I'm unsure of the result. Displays "The request service has already been started."

I just fought with this issue for 2 days on one of my clients
computers. Lexmark was ZERO help to me, thanks for nothing there ...

Here is the solution I found:

System is as follows

ASUS P4P800-VM
256MB DDR400
Celeron 1.8
WinXP HE
Lexmark X85

I tried just about everything that was suggested to me by Lexmark, and
everyone else, but the fixes would only last a short time ... then
"Cannot Communicate with Printer"

Please note that the following solution is a slightly generic approach
to identifying programs that load themselves when booting. This
autoloading seems to create a multitude of conflicts, and a clean boot
is the best solution.

What I did was ...
1) Rename the file MDM.exe to MDM.old (do a search for the file to
find it)
This is the Microsoft Debug Machine, and it will run automatically
when you start Windows ... there is no way (that I know of) to stop it
from running (besides renaming or deleting the .exe)
2) With the printer Uninstalled, fire up the msconfig (type in
msconfig under the RUN prompt) choose Selective Startup, and then
clear the Startup Group box. Restart the computer and run msconfig
again. Note if the Startup Group box is still cleared ... if it is
grayed, that means something has enabled itself again without asking
permission. Look in the Startup Group tab to find out what it is, then
search for it on the computer and rename it (or delete it)

Once you are able to boot cleanly (nothing showing up in Startup Group
under msconfig) install the X85 normally and have fun.
