letters disappeard?

first of all sorry my english..im portuguese...

the problem is, form example, my windows is portuguese, xp professional,
when i shut down its sould say ("a terminar a sessão") but it shows ("a
terminar a sess..") some letters doesn´t appear, and in some parts of the
operating system also, but if i write something it writes perfectelly, only
on some fields the letters with ~~ or ´´ doesnt appear...why? its the second
time it happens, first time was a couple of months, i formatted ands
installed the OS to resolve the problem, but i dont wonna do it again :( i
dont have an internet connection, no virus, nothing...only a couple of
games...its practically a work computer...waiting for an solution

If you increased your display settings to show text at an increased dpi,
or percentage, it will no longer fit in a fixed-size window. You can
try to work around it by pressing the Tab key within the window to
change the focus to the preferred button, or change the font/text size
to a smaller size.

To change the font/text size to a smaller size, open Display properties,
Settings tab, Advanced button, change the DPI setting to "Normal Size"
for your screen resolution. I hope this is what you need. That might
make the text fit within the windows.
 
thats not the problem, because the letters misses on the shutdown blue
screens of windows... "shutting down"...in portuguese "terminar a sessão),
dpi are normal...
