I just installed Windows Xp pro on my AMD Athlon Xp 1900+ ( 1.6 Ghz ) machine
with 768 mb of ram, I have windows 2000 professional running on it, the
problem is that windows xp is very slow in it's response where as windows
2000 pro works fine. I dont have a bundle of software installed or anything,
my profile size is also not more than one GB, that would make the desktop
load slowly. It is very slow in loading programs and switching between
windows when I even have all the nice graphics in windows xp turned off, ( I
have a 40 Gig hdd, with 4 partitions, Windows 2000 is on Drive C while
Windows Xp is running from Drive F, that is the last logical drive ) I'll be
thankful if anyone can tell me reason and solution to this problem.
Thankfully

I have made the necessary changes for a selective start up from registry
editor, also I am already using a selective start up( I am sorry I forgot to
mention that in my question ) it did make some difference but not to a great
extent, my system performs a lot better in windows 2000, also it was better
than this before I formatted the hard drive and chagned the windows to dual
boot from windows Xp Professional Only, I have also noticed that Windows Xp's
performance is effected in a dual boot environment, I wonder why?
Thanks anyway.
Regards
Shahzad
