legacy controls in word 2007

My proposals created in office 03 have things like check boxes and word
fields that don't work in 2007. So I try to create new ones in 07 but my
legacy tools (thats I guess what they call the old form controls are greyed
out. My office is about to hold a mutiny...any help as how to either make the
old compatible or create new???

Is the document protected for forms? If so, you'll need to unprotect it to
access the form tools (legacy or otherwise). If the task pane is showing,
click Stop Protection at the bottom of the task pane.

Form tools aren't available in Word 2003, either, if the document is
protected... but, that it's protected might not be as obvious as it was in
Word 2003.

If the task pane isn't showing, in the Developer tab, click Protect
Document - [Restrict Formatting and Editing], then click Stop Protection.
Note, if you're not using ultimate or the enterprise version, you won't need
to click Restrict Formatting and Editing after clicking Protect Document,
since the Restrict Permission options aren't present.
