Left Shared Border Width

This is probably simple, but I can't figure it out. I have a left shared border with links to other pages. The links are in a table. All of the links are wider than the shared border width, so they all word-wrap, which makes them harder to read. I tried everything I could think of to make the shared border wider to no avail. I can make the table wider by draging the right edge but all that does is make the rightmost characters disappear.

The web site I am trying to modify is the www.cmceast.com site.

How do I do this?

Thanks,

Gary

Set the table to a fixed width and the cell width to 100% for the table in
the share border.
