Creating a page width in FP2000

M

Merryterry

I am trying to limit the width of text on the right hand box within a
shared border.(Top & LH Side with buttons) I add text and the border
just keeps getting wider and wider. When viewed as a web page the
person viewing has to use the scroll bars and the text looks silly in
long lines.

I have imported files the text from MS Word. FP2000 just reformats them
to the width it wants. Some imported pages are OK but some are like
'Moon River' (Wider than a mile!)

The Help pages are U/S without any mention of Page Width, Text Width or
anything similar.

I have found some 'handles' that I can use to resize the first
paragraph but cannot find any handles for subsequent pages.

Can anyone help before I throw all the damn thing away?

Insert a table of a fixed width into the shared border area, then insert your text. Whatever you
insert must be able to wrap instead of exceeding the width you are trying to maintain.

| Many thanks Thomas, I tried that but it still expands. How do I get it
| to wrap?

Have examined cell properties and 'no wrap' is not checked.

It seems to work on para 1 but second para is again full width no
matter wat I do.

I have made the table 2 rows x 1 col in case it treats each para
separatly but still the same.

Do you set the the width at the Insert Table box or the Cell Properties
box. I have done both.

Thanks Crash but I have not published it yet. I am working on it on an
unconnected Laptop and will transfer it to internet connected machine
when I have got it right.

OK, Thanks everybody. I have spotted problem. I was importing page as a
web page .html that I formulated in Word. Import it as *.* (any text
file) and it is OK.

The web page was probably fixing the format.

Once again, many thanks. You are all very helpful.
