Left pane in windows explorer gray out

The Left pane in windows explorer is grayed out. the
right pane is fine. This is happening on 2 win2k servers
 
Tried knowledge base article 192315

Delete the registry key
\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main

Didn't work.
