Left Mouse Click to Save Not working

I am running Win XP Pro with IE v6. When I try to save a file using IE as my
browser, my left mouse click is OPENING files automatically, rather than
allowing me the option to OPEN or SAVE the file.

The only way I can save the file is to do a right mouse click and do a SAVE
AS.

The left mouse click used to give me the option of OPEN or SAVE, but suddenly
is not working that way.

I have made no changes on my computer that I am aware of. How do I fix this?

Thanks to all -

Brenda

Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to the file type in question and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Check the box for "Confirm open after download".
