I am using outlook 2003 with business contact manager.
For example, I have a contact X in Business contact manager folder, I open
it, then choose "Action", "New Task for a Contact", then a task window shows
up. BUT on the left down corner, the "Contact" field is blank!!
why doesn't the Contact field shows the contact X?

the same situation happens for a new appointment under a contact.
anyone know the reason?

thank you.

The reason is that tasks and appointments are held outside of BCM (in
Outlook). You can make a “link†to the business contact or account by copying
and pasting the name in the box. I know… you would have thought that the link
would be automatic.

In addition to Ian's comments,

Remember that BCM and Outlook are separate and distinct applications designed
to appear similiar and to share the linkage of various record objects. The
workflow requirements to link something in BCM is different than in Outlook.
You need to initiate a new task or appointment for a Business Contact in BCM
by clicking on the NEW button next to the Business History items section of
the Business Contact Record. This will create a link to the BCM database but
it will not automatically display on the Contact field of the linked Outlook
object item without you then also doing this manually as Ian describes above.
Review the linking instructions if necesssary in the BCM users guide in order
to avoid confusing these separate procedures between Outlook and BCM.
