Leaving/rejoining domain on XP pro - profile affected?

I have an XP Pro machine which has lost trust with the DC which means I have
to leave the domain and rejoin. Will this affect the profile
(username.domain) on the XP Pro machine? Will I have to recreate that
profile and move all of the data into the new instance?

Yes, you'll probably get a new profile. However, you can
manually modify the registry to point at the old folder. It's
kept here:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
