Can anybody tell me if there is a way to leave a vacation
message to auto generate on Outlook express. I would
like to be able to inform people that I will be away but
I don't know how to set it up with Outlook express or if
it even has that feature.

I believe that is only available in Outlook, and then only if you are on an exchange server.

Hi,

Click tools/message rules/mail, click "new".

- For all messages
- Reply with message

Create a reply message, use ok/apply to get out, leave OE running while you
are gone, set to check for messages at an interval of your choosing.

Hi,

Create your message in Word, Wordpad, Notepad or any other text program you
like. Save as (name you choose) and make sure you have selected a text
extension .txt.

Go to OE/Tools/Message Rules/Mail/New and set up a rule.

1. Select your option from the top section for whom you want to send it to.
2. In the second section, scroll down and select "reply with message."
3. In the third section, click on the word "message." You'll be prompted
to select the file to use.
4. In the bottom dropdown window, change the extension to text (mail is the
default and won't see your saved file.)
5. Select the file you created. It will show the path to the message.

To test it, send an email to yourself and see if you get your message back.
When you look at the message you sent yourself in the inbox, it should show
a reply icon.

Tools - Message Rules - Mail

Then in top box All Messages and in second box Reply with Message, and in
the third box click Message and browse to a message you've saved to the hard
drive (by using File - Save As).

If your ISP supports this feature, it would be best to configure at their
end so you can turn your computer off while away. Many ISPs have webmail
interfaces and other mail options.

Every piece of spam you get sent will be replied to: thus ensuring an
ever-increasing spate of spam that will rapidly fill up your mail box.

I suggest you make a point of visiting a cyber cafe wherever you go and
check your e-mail on your ISP's website. Replying to everything is a good
way of multiplying your spam problem!
