Learning the Registry

I'd like suggestions for resources (books, sites) for learning more
detail about the registry.

This is prompted in part by a recommendation from SpyBot S&D to make
some registry changes to "fix" the IE DSO exploit that MS says it fixed
in March 2002 (MS02-015). Info on the SpyBot forum says permitting the
changes do no harm even if the MS patch has been installed, but I'd like
to know why/what is going on when I make registry changes. As an
example, here's one of SpyBot's recommendations:

HKU\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\0\1004=W=3

Currently, that key is set to 0. I assume that SBS&D wants to change it
to 3, which I take it changes something from Local Zone to Internet
Zone. Comments?

My personal choice is 'Microsoft Windows XP Registry Guide' written by Jerry
Honeycutt and published by Microsoft Press. Check it out at your local
bookstore and see if it meets your needs.
