LCD and Gaming FPS

Alright, here are my specs
P4 3.
Ati x850 pr
2gig 400mhz DD
Gigabyte Mobo: 8lK-110
Audigy 2 zs
Samsung Syncmaster 172w ( has a response time of 25ms
So my problem is the FPS when I'm playing games. I don't see too muc
ghosting or any other visible defects however the graphics displaye
from the monitor really blows. The motions of characters are chopp
and movements are jerky. I got the latest drivers and bios and stil
like that. So my question was will a LCD monitor with a 25ms be th
cause? Can the monitor affect FPS that much. By the way on th
Counterstrike:source Video Stress test I get a avg. FPS of 116fp
with the recommended setting; vsync off. However when I play th
game, like I said, the movements are jerky. Thanks in advance

I have a 25ms LCD too and I noticed the same thing when playing FPS
type of games. My solution was to go back to CRT and use the LCD on my
non-gaming computer. A faster response time (8ms or so) LCD should
solve the issue but I can't say for sure. Hopefully someone else can
confirm. For gaming I recommend a decent CRT monitor, if you can find
one these days. Another big reason for me prefering CRT is that I have
many games that don't support the LCD's native resolution and this
causes fuzzy fonts. 1024x768 is ok on a 1280x1024 LCD ( just a bit
fuzzy) but anything below that looks horrible on an LCD with a native
res of 1280x1024, IMO. Just last week I bought a relatively newish
strat game recently and the only res it supports is 1024x768. This
looks much better on my CRT than it will on an LCD, unless you have a
15" LCD with native res of 1024x768.
