Hi guys, am just wondering if there is any switch when you open outlook it
opens my "unread mail" folder rather than inbox ?
seems there is a "/select" switch I can use but does not work. can you
advise ?thanks

by the way I tried following but does not work getting an error
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /select
outlook:Unread Mail

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /select
"outlook:search folders\Unread Mail"

works for me.

OUTLOOK.EXE /select "outlook:search folders\Unread Mail"
would work in the Run dialog.

Hint: show the web toolbar and select the folder - copy the path from the
address field of the web toolbar.

thanks for that DL. is there any other way to achieve what I want?

Click Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options and change the "Startup in this
folder" value to the Unread Mail folder or specify the /select switch as

/select "outlook:Search Folders\Unread Mail"

Note the quotes and the spaces. I tried both methods and each works.
