Latest XP udates causes crash

Error messages during download:

Error occurred while copying file dummy.cat
Cannot copy file to destination directory.
Click retry or....cancel


Two updates involved:

KB837009
Security Update Outlook Express 6 SP1

KB831167
Critical Update for Internet Explorer 6 SP1

I have tried to do several system restores and now am
unable to do so. I received the above message when
downloading and installing both files. Now my computer
crashes and gives "Blue Screen of Death". Okay, can't
revert back to a restore point and can't update. Any
recommendations? The other files that were listed during
latest update I received seem to install without any
problems. Please advise!

Did you by chance receive the link for the downloads in an email?

No went through IE Update and it also tried through
automatic update. Any ideas?

I have had crashes and network problems since I

installed the latest updates also.
