Latest Security Updates for XP

XP Home, SP1
Received notice of two security updates for XP on 7-13-
03. Installed both. Got the restart info window and
selected okay. Afterward, windows failed to start
(restarted by default) three times before I noticed the
error screen. Tried rebooting and selecting every Safe
Mode, previous mode and start normally options about a
dozen times before I finally got Windows to start.

More update messages today, but still got one auto-
restart after installing. Was able to get into safe mode,
then restart back to normal. But what's going on with the
security updates?? Is anyone experiencing/reporting
problems after these latest updates?

What do you mean "received notice"? Are you saying that you got an email
with an attachment purportedly from Microsoft and you executed that? If
so, you got a virus. MS never sends out updates as attachments. Scan
with current antivirus using updated definitions. If this is *not* what
you meant, then please post back with clear specifics about your
problem.

I have update auto-notification turned on. Whenever MS
has an update, message appears in the taskbar. Clicking
opens MS installer with a list of updates.
