Last profile not clearing

We are using Outlook 2003 SP3, Windows XP, with 2 Outlook profiles on a home
computer. After several years of successful use, recent problem has arisen.
Initial start of Outlook begins with the Profile dialog box for choosing
either of the 2 profiles. When exiting Outlook and re-starting Outlook to
review other profile, the Profile dialog box is not available and Outlook is
opened in the initial profile. Restarting windows is the only way to get the
2-profile choice dialog box up.

Any help will be appreciated

It means Outlook doesn't close properly and is still running in the
background. You can find it on the list of processes in Task Manager. So the
real problem is, why Outlook doesn't close. Probably because of some add-in
or 3rd party software, like AV. Try to run Outlook with the /safe parameter
and check if the problem still occur. If not, then you need to switch off
add-ins one-by-one to eliminate the culprit.

Thanks Michal. I forgot to mention that this doesn't always happen; i.e.
sometimes it works fine. I have looked at the Task Manger when the problem
has occurred it doesn't show Outlook is running in the Application tab.
Outlook.exe is visible in the Processes tab. When I attempted to "End
Process" I received a warning, that concerned me enough not to continue.

Do you still think it is an add-in problem, even though the problem is
intermittent?

Yes, I think so. Such problems are usually caused by some add-ins. If you
can see the Outlook.exe process, it means Outlook is still running, although
you can't see it in the Application tab.
