Large Problem, Thanks SP3, Please help

It all started with an autoomatic update to office 2003. After the update,
When I clicked on a link from outlook, outlook would hang for 5 minutes
before the page loaded to a browser, a problem that didn't exist before the
update.

Reading online said the update can't be uninstalled. The only solution was
to upgrade to SP3 or uninstall office completely and reinstall it. I took
this as an opportunity to install office 2007. I tad to be done at sometime,
better now than later. An automatic update to office 2007 created the same
problem I had in 2003. So I decided to go for the sp3.

The installation of sp3 began to hang near the final steps and stayed there
for 3 hrs before it was time for me to leave. I came back to a computer that
was turned off. Booting up, I had a blue screen that said the installation
was interupted and will revert to earlier settings. I can only assume that
means the SP3 didn't successfully install.

After tthe 20 minute wait of this reverting process, I got to the windows
spash screen and then a black screen that never went anywhere else. As of
now, I am into 4 hours of looking at it and still nothing. I have tried
booting from an xp disc and an linux live disc to recover my files and to no
avail, cannot even boot from any cd OR floppy.

What can I do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Let me add that I did go into the bios and all my hardware is detected and I selected my cd drives to boot first and disabled the HDD from booting. When I let the HDD be the last to boot, it would cycle through the devices, and give me the windows boot menu giving me the option to boot into safe mode. None of the boot options got me into windows past the splash screen.

Also, when I disabled the HDD to boot, I still couldn't boot from CD or
floppy.

You seem that have different problem that are not related to XP or
SP3. You should still be able to boot from CD / floppy no matter if
you have SP3 installed or not. Boot processes do not use anything
from XP.
