Large files created causes crash

hello,
when i am installing a program that creates a large .dat
file or extracting a large file from a .rar, XP just shuts
down after about 1 min into the extraction.

i'm having a hard time determining if it is the processor
that is being pushed too hard to extract the file or just
the actual size of the file itself.

any advice? thanks

You need to post back with your system specs. Perhaps you don't have
enough RAM, or your RAM is bad. Perhaps your hard drive is small and
almost full. It could be a lot of things. Give us some details to work
with.
