large file cannot be sent and outlook is frozen

We are running a dial-up connection at home, and my husband uses Outlook to
send and receive all his web-based e-mail. He tried to send a 20MB file,
which he realized would take forever. He tried to cancel it. Now the file is
listed in the outbox, and every time we try to send, it locks everything up.
We are unable to delete the message. We get an error message that says we are
already in the process of sending it and it can't be deleted or changed.
Help!
 
try working offline, its in the File menu. Close and reopen outlook then
delete that message from the outbox, then close and reopen outlook and switch
back to "online"
