Large Excel Files

I recently upgraded my physical memory to 1GB from 500MB
because I have a few large Excel files I deal with where I
get "Not Enough Memory" errors and "Out of System
Resource" errors. I really haven't noticed a decrease in
these errors ... is there some other setup I need to
perform to "tell" Excel I have more memory than it's
using? I notice in Task Manager that Excel is using 290Mb
of memory when these errors occur - with 500Mb available.
Why isn't it using all the memory available?

Hi Randy,
Operating systems is important as well as your version of Excel.

It is unlikely that you are out of memory because you don't have enough
physical memory, as you should be using virtual memory.

Though do check the space on your harddrive. Best to set the
virtual memory up high as you would need while running
to start with. Microsoft is not very good at handling conflicts.

But the memory may be graphical memory
that Excel has limits in. I expect that you are not running on an
WinNT (2000, 2002) system..

I was under the impression that Windows had problems using memory
above 512 megabytes, and those with more had to limit the usage to
that amount.
