Large email won't send

Using Outlook 2003.

This is a new problem that I haven't had in the past.

If I try to send an email with an attachment something larger than 100Kb I
get an Outlook error message that the connection to the server was
interrupted. This happens with two different email servers I have access
to.

Never had this problem until recently. In the past I have sent attachments
of several Mb.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

1) Disable any scanning of outgoing mail with your antivirus program. In
fact, disable scanning completely.
2) Increase your server timeout value on the Advanced tab of your account
properties.
3) Lengthen the send/receive interval on Tools>Options>Mail
Setup>Send/Receive

I'd check the mailbox size first and the network speed next...

Checked and no problems.

A second PC on my home network does not have the problem.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a try.

I tried your suggestions with negative results.

I was wrong in my original post, I only have the problem with one of the
email servers. But I do have two PCs on my home network and the other one,
configured just the same, works just fine with the troublesome email server.

I've tried Outlook Express and doesn't work either.

As near as I can tell this problem started when I rebuilt my PC two months
ago. I installed an image of the system that I made just after I did the
rebuild and that doesn't work. But I'm not sure if this new hardware ever
was able to send large emails to this one particular email server.

I've contacted the email server people and so far they haven't been able to
come up with an answer.

I know I can configure my Outlook to use the ISP's outgoing mail server but
that service is soon to go away.

I'm able to upload large files to Usenet without a problem.

This one really has me stumped. One more thing I'm going to try is to
bypass the router and directly to the Internet.

Thanks again.

Enable diagnostic logging to see what's happening.
