large desktop

please can any one help me, i'm quite new to computers and yesterday
everything on the computer has gone extra big ie the desktop icons are really
big and the taskbars. does anyone know how to remedy this please?

Try this:

Right click the Desktop and select Properties>Settings>Advanced. Make sure
that the drop down menu is set to 'Normal size (96 DPI)'.
