All laptops nowadays have a button for enabling or disabling the wireless
NIC. When the NIC is disabled XP frequently pops up a warning: "wireless
network unavailable". This warning stays visible until the user responds,
which usually consists of clicking on the bubble at which point the network
connections window appears. Poor user!
In the General properties tab for the wireless network connection I have
unchecked "Notify me when this connection..." and "Show icon in notification
area..." yet the warnings persist.
I've seen numerous postings around the Internet about this issue but have
seen no valid solutions other than to disable all bubble messages, which is
overkill. Surely Microsoft could get in sync with all manufacturers of
network cards and patch this!
