Laptop will not hibernate or stand by - get blue screen

Hi -
I have a Dell Inspiron 9400. It came with Windows Vista, but I was
unsatisfied so did a clean install of Windows XP SP2 (without accompanying
Dell drivers). I manually installed as many of the Dell drivers as I could
find afterward (video, sound, network card).

When I close the lid or try to hibernate / stand by the computer via the
Start menu, it begins the process then has a blue screen and reboots. The
error code is:
STOP: 0x0000008E (blah blah blah)
HSX_CNXT.sys -
Beginning Dump of Physical Memory

Any thoughts?

You need to install *all* the Dell drivers for *all* the hardware plus
the laptop-specific software. There is a preferred order for installing
laptop drivers and software.

Go to Dell's tech support site for the Inspiron 9400 and download all
the drivers and laptop software. There will be a link with instructions
for the installation order, or you can search for it on Dell's website.
