laptop turns off after hour or two idle

wiped hard drive and reinstalled xp pro went to windows update and installed
all critical stuff and service pack two done virus checks checked for msblast
and other worms all clean the only warning in the system event log is a
tcp/ip security thing can anyone help?

have you tried to go /contol panel/ power option propertis, and adjust it
from there?

Have you checked your BIOS - it XP power options are not set, then it will
default to BIOS setup - at least mine does - it has all those settings for
on battery or on current, etc.
