Laptop Speakers won't play

My Dell Inspiron 3800 laptop speakers won't work, but
using headphones through the headphone jack works. Windows
2000 Professional, 800MHz. I've already uninstalled and
reinstalled the sound driver, etc. Anyone have any idea
what's wrong and/or how to fix?
