laptop problem

Hi,

When I try to start my laptop, it does not the load the OS.

It just says Loading PBR for descriptor 2....done

A disk read error occured
pres Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

I would really appreciate any advice on how to fix this problem.

The HD has failed. This error is a corrupted Master Boot Record (MBR),
although it might also indicate a failed drive. Google: fixmbr for
details. You will need a boot floppy with command.com installed to
execute >fixmbr or an XP install CD. Using the install CD, select
Recovery Console, start your XP installation, and type: fixmbr.

Hopefully, the error state will be corrected. You can Google 'Loading
PBR for descriptor 2' for additional detailed help.
