Packard bell (igo) Laptop makes clicking sound
occasionally only, maybe once or twice a day.
you can really feel it (front left side)
Only when the fan is going
Almost like some plastic components are flexing
as it cools
most disturbing
anyone else had this trouble?

Everytime my laptop (Toshiba) starting making clicking sounds my hard drive
always died a couple of weeks after the clicking started. I'd recommend you
make backups of your files if you need them then try to diagnose the
problem.

You know the trick to that is to never move it while it's on. Most people have this inane notion
that they can just pick up the laptop and carry it around while it's on or even in sleep mode...uh
uh...REAL dumb idea. Usually when you start doing that the drive will be worthless in like 2 to 3
years.

It would be quick and easy to assume it's the hard drive making the noise,
but then you metion the plastic, as if it's just that the parts are
expanding at different rates and so they readjust periodically instead of
evenly, sort of like what an earthquake does for continental plates.

Any other problems? You could take the old "if it works don't fix it"
approach, or you can open it up and check the air passageways for dust
buildup and try to determine if the fan is operating at optimal speed or
if it's bearing are shot, something along those lines that would cause the
system to retain more heat than it previously did.
