My work computer is an IBM laptop running windows XP. When ever I shut down
and undock my laptop, it loses the default printer. MIS said dopn't shut
down go into hibernate mode. A co worker does not have this problem and I
can't find anything in the help section. SO I am asking the public for help!
ibm have an application called Access Manager, this is a tool which
helps you setting up different profiles for each type of network
connection, wireless work, home, lan home, lan office etc
one of the features is that you can set the default printer per
location, so when you are at home you set it to print to your home pc
and when you are in the office you set it to print to your office
printer.
depending on which version of Access Manager you run this setting is
usually in the third tab of the profile, you can also set other things
like default homepage, turning windows xp build in firewall on and off
per location etc
it is the best location manager i have found but it can be confusing
if you don't know it exist or how powerful it is.
if you do know about this application i retract everything i said
let us know if this helps
