Laptop Keyboard Problem

Hi all,

I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop keyboard. Not long
ago, the right arrow key sometimes didn't work (there was no response
when I pressed it). And now, some of the keys in the keyboard didn't
work, they are: A, S, D, F, J, K, L, ;, Fn, \
It used to occur once in a while, but now they are completely unusable.
Anybody have any suggestion? Is it really the keyboard that has errors?
Because if it is indeed the keyboard, then I'm planning to buy an
external USB keyboard, just in case.

Thanks very much.

Cheers,
Budi

hii if u notice the keys A S D F ... are all in a row this might simply be a
single key missalligned from its position disturbing the whole row. Check
carefully if any key is a bit moved from its regular position u will notice
a bit of gap between the keys in that case. which ever the case your laptop
company or any qualified technician can easily fix the problem no need to
buy a usb keyboard :-s

Hope this helps...,

It sounds likley that you have a damaged membrane within your keyboard,
if you have an usb keyboard or a plugin and play or something else that
can input the letters that are broke, try that. If they work its going
to mean you will have to get it repaired. Also have you split and type
of liquid onto it or is there any thing that might be blocking certain
keys *food crums*? because its odd that there yes are all on the same
row but if it was the connection the the actuall row g and h would also
be not working. Assuming your using english(EN) keyboard.

Let us know how you get on,

Thanks for all the replies.
Yes, they are not exactly in the same row, cause there are '\' key as
well, and also Fn key. And I didn't see any misaligned key. I tried to
pry up the troubled keys and see if there are any garbage underneath,
but aside from some dust, there are nothing. Maybe I need to open the
whole keyboard from the laptop (is it true that the way to do that is
to open the K-marked screws on the bottom of the laptop case?)
