Laptop Hard Disk Drive Space

Hi, i've just bought an Advent laptop, and after a few days the hard disk
drive total size, has gone down from 37gig to 33.1 gig.I have a 40gig HDD and
understand that 3gig or so is used for windows etc already. I havent put
anything on the laptop but have been asked to make a recovery CD/DVD or
partition space on the HDD, could my laptop have gone ahead and used its HDD
space to do this already? Also when i first booted up the laptop, there was a
partition drive named 'recovery' with 4.12gig on there, but this has now
dissapeared?? I selected to 'remind me later' when asked to make the recovery
partition/DVD and never once selected an option.

Can anyone help please?

It probably hasn't deleted it, it's just likely hidden it. You SHOULD make
the recovery CDs now though. If you wait and something does go wrong you
face all sorts of unhappy hours and potentially the expense of ordering
recovery media from your OEM.
