Laptop battery

My laptop battery ran down to 0%, and once I plugged in the AC adaptor, it
just shows the message "Plugged in, Not charging" and stuck at 0%. This
doesn't happen all the time for some reason, as sometimes it will actually
charge while it is plugged in. If I load too many applications now, the
computer will automatically shut down, and then it STILL won't charge. By
the way, the laptop is less than one month old, and the battery usually holds
a 2-3 hour charge.

How can I fix this problem?

Very possible that you have a bad battery and that your computer will have
to replace it. If you remove the battery can you run with just the AC
adapter?

Time for a warranty repair I would think.

I have found on the web that other people are having this problem. I'm also
having this problem. I recently bought a Sony Vaio CR190 and it's less than
3 weeks old. The battery does not get charged past 50%. It keeps saying,
plugged in, not
charging. Sony sent me a new battery and the same problem is happening. The
laptop is plugged into the AC adapter but the battery does not get charged.
I do not think this is a bad battery problem, but Vista itself as too many
people with brand NEW notebooks running on Vista are having this problem. Is
there a setting that we don't know about? There must be because the system
knows to stop charging at 50%.

Does the battery charge when the computer is turned off. The operating
system does NOT come into play at that time. If the computer does NOT charge
over night - when the computer is OFF - then it is a hardware/computer
problem and not an operating system problem.
