Laptop and Netgear

I have Netgear wireless router and PCI adaptor, which I installed and
configured. They are working very well linking 2 desktop PCs.

I'm trying to hook a laptop to the router. The laptop has its own wireless
adaptor and I haven't a clue what to do to make it recognize router signals.
