Language Problems & Upgrading

Hi all,
This is my first post so I hope someone can assist. I recently bought a new
PC which came with Vista Home Premuium pre-loaded. I live and work in France
so naturally it is the French version. With my old PC which had the UK
version of Windows 2000, I used to use Dragon Naturally Speaking SR software
which was great. Clearly the new PC will not support this software and
although my version of Vista has SR software built-in it only recognises
French so not much use to me writing reports in English!

I believe that I can upgrade to Vista Ultimate which has other language
packs. So my question is this: Can I simply (?) buy a UK version of Ultimate
and upgrade my current system so that I can then use the SR software and
write in English & if I do this will it wipe my hard drive. Any other advice
about this would be VERY much appreciated. Oh, and by the way I am not a PC
wizard so please keep answers written in plain english! Thanks again. Gérard

You ****ing idiot. LOL.. This about your 50th post. The majority of them
are asking for help. The rest of your posts are praising Vista for it's
greatness. Sever retardadtion.

Thanks Richard. I'll look out for the French Ultimate upgrade.

To put it simply - you cannot upgrade and change languages at the same time.
You would need to upgrade in the current language (French to French) THEN
change languages.

Hi,
Yes I did try to install DNS. I have V9 Prefferred. Does this make a
difference?

No - if I can install and use V7 Preferred without any problems, you should
be able to install V9...

What was the problem? Did you try to install as Administrator - or with XP
compatibilty?

/M

I have tried to install under my own ID (not administrator as I'm not sure
how to do this) and I get the message that V9 will operate only on 'Windows
2000, XP or Windows 2003 Server' so not sure what to do now.

Try this:

Right-click on the installer file (setup.exe, install.exe...) and select
Properties (Propriétés).

Cilck on the Compatibilté tab, and check Exécuter le programme en mode de
compatibilité pour : Windows XP. Should work.

HTH,
