language pack installation

Hello all,

I have Windows Vista Ultimate English with the German language pack.
The German localization pack I have downloaded from the ultimate
extras.

Does somebody know in which folder it was downloaded. I would like to
use this language pack for another computer with Vista Enterprise
installed. Unfortunately I cannot re-download it since German language
is in the Ultimate extras not listed anymore. I guess why I have it
already installed.

Any hint is highly appreicated

Windows Vista language packs are available only for computers
that are running Windows Vista Ultimate. The Windows Vista
language packs can be installed only from the Windows Ultimate
Extras section on the Windows Update Web site. The language
packs are not available on the Microsoft Windows Server Update
Services (WSUS) Web site or on the Microsoft Download Center.

Vista Enterprise already supports 'All worldwide interface languages', you
probably should contact your Administrator about getting the German language
installed since its only available only Volume License contracts.

I can tell which folder but unfortunately it is too late for you to look
for it: When you download the language pack it is automatically
installed and then the downloaded setup file is automatically deleted.

If you want to back up the language pack setup file, then you have to
clean install Vista, then start downloading the language pack through
Windows Update *WHILE* looking the following location:

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

When the download begins, a long file name shows up there in a
combination of alpha numeric characters. For example

21c0373f827c99c87e21a1fcdf6e854277a003da

When the downloading finishes, immedately back up this file and rename
it to, for example, LP-DE.exe.

From here you can manually install it by clicking on the file, and the
set up file will stay where it is saved.

I did the above with English language version of Windows Vista Ulatimate
to download Janpanese language pack listed in Vista Ultimate Extra
through the Windows Update.

Okay, thank you for the valuable input. There is no way to re-download
it?

Thanks

It just occurred to me. That is to uninstall the language pack. I have
never done this but why don't you try it and please post back if the
idea works.
