Lan working Internet not working

P

parikhrakesh

I recently installed the Microsoft Loopback Adapter and since then, I
cannot connect to the Internet using my Ethernet. The Wireless
connection works fine. Note that LAN connection is available. I am
using Windows XP with SP2.
Running ipconfig /all gives me the same results as those on a
'working' computer (except the IP address).
Ping and tracert to any address fails - other than to my localhost and
the DHCP server.
Have uninstalled the Loopback adapter and no change in behavior.
I have tried 'netsh int ip reset' and no luck with that.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Compare the static route table between working and non-working computers.

You say "LAN working". Is it? You then say "Ping and tracert to any address
fails".

Post some "ipconfig /all" logs here - working and non-working. Don't munge.

Ok. When I say the LAN is working, I mean that the 'Local Area
Connection' icon says Connected. In addition, I can see this PC from
other PC's (not vice versa).

Not too much interesting there. Except your DNS servers - what's 192.168.1.100?

http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/03/dns-server-settings-on-your-computer.html

See if you have a DNS problem.

If you can see computers, on the LAN, asymmetrically, you probably have a
misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other security component.
There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your
problem. Read this article with an open mind.

Quick Question:
Why does the route print command have 2 entries for 255.255.255.255
(specifically the one with Interface 10003) on the bad computer and
only one on the good one?

P

I tried deleting the entry doing:
route delete 255.255.255.255 and it gave me the error "route: bad
destination address 255.255.255.255"

Also tried "netsh winsock reset catalog".

No changes in behavior.

Interesting. I missed that.

Try deleting that entry, then repair LSP / Winsock.
