I am trying to connect 5 computers together with a switch so that a
game can be played and files shared, but some of the computers belong
to a domain that requires an administrator password to join and others
are just part of a work group. Would this create a problem and if so
are there any suggestions to deal with it?

To play a game, you probably don't need to worry about domain / workgroup issues
- that's for file sharing. How do the game participants locate each other on
the network?

Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
My email is AT DOT
actual address pchuck mvps org.

It is an in game option that displays a list of hosted games on the
LAN, like Halo

OK, I'll rephrase my question.

What network protocols does the game use, to locate other players, and to play
the game?

Better yet, what's the name of the game?

I'm sorry for the delay and the awkward phrasing; the game is Halo.

OK, it looks like Halo is independent of Windows Networking and file sharing
issues. So domains shouldn't be relevant. But Windows Firewall will be.
